The Joint Independent Audit Committee ensures that Durham Constabulary and the Durham PCC adhere to regulations, manage finances legally, and minimise risks.
The Joint Independent Audit Committee is an independent body which checks both Durham Constabulary and the PCC of Durham are following national and local regulations, handling public finances in accordance with the law and not taking undue risk.
It operates as a single Committee, providing assurance jointly both to the PCC and Chief Constable ofCounty Durham and Darlington. It operates to a set of terms and reference reviewed annually.
